Margaret (Malgorzata) Kochan has been teaching ballroom dancing since 1991. In Poland, she received her training from the Academy of Physical Education in Krakow, and the School of Arts and Culture, in Warsaw. In the US, she earned an Advanced Ballroom Teaching Certification from Fred Astaire Dance Studios, Inc. Margaret specializes in all American and International Ballroom styles as well as Argentine Tango, West Coast Swing, Carolina Shag, Country & Western and Cardio Ballroom. She continues to refine her dancing and teaching skills, working with world class performers and coaches, including Michael Mead and Toni Redpath, Jim and Jenell Maranto, Felipe and Carolina Telona, Slawek Sochacki and Marzena Stachura, Tomasz and Izabella Lewandowski, Christy Cote’ and George Garcia, Michael Kiehm and Barry Jones, just to name a few.
Margaret’s entrepreneurial spirit and passion for dancing led her to establish A Dance to Remember studio in Rockwall, Texas in 2008. As the premier studio in the greater Rockwall area, A Dance to Remember, "Where memories are created," provides a friendly and comfortable environment for everyone to learn, enjoy, and experience the wonderful world of dancing. The ADTR studio is proud to be recognized as one of best dance schools in the greater DFW area. With a teaching experience of over 25 years, Margaret and her team of instructors are committed to sharing their passion for dancing with everyone. The school’s mantra “If Dancing Is Your Passion, Then Teaching You Is Ours” permeates throughout the studio. The ADTR students experience a unique learning environment where they flourish and advance at their own level of comfort. Classes are designed for easy understanding with emphasis on technique, styling and fluidity of movement.
Affectionately known as Dr. Dance, a title given to her by her students, Margaret had taught over 1000 local dancers since she moved to Texas in 1999. Margaret takes great pride in her profession and strives to adjust her teaching technique to best address the needs of each student she has a privilege to work with. Utilizing her Physical Education training, she helps to condition her students’ bodies for rigorous dance training. Many dancers testify that because of the dance classes, their stamina, coordination, flexibility and balance have improved greatly. Remembering the importance of joy that dancing brings to all of her customers, Margaret emphasizes the aspect of fun and relaxation that lessons and parties offer. For those who like to be in the spotlight, the ADTR studio offer various performing opportunities. Margaret and her team are driven by their passion for dancing and teaching. They love to see their students excel in this beautiful art form. She and her students have performed at events throughout the greater Rockwall and Dallas/Fort Worth area. Among others, Margaret has performed with the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, "Angels of Dance" Annual Gala benefiting the Susan G Komen Dancing for the Cure, Children’s Health System, and Women In Need, Inc.,
Margaret served five years as the principal coach and adviser to the Rockwall County Alliance for the Arts in their primary fundraiser, Dancing with the Stars. She has been the choreographer for the Rockwall's Chapter of the National Charity League's Annual Debutante Ball, designing and teaching Father-Daughter Senior Waltz Presentations since 2009.
